Škoda is unveiling the completely redesigned interiors of the new 2024 Kodiaq and Superb generations. The interiors will feature a digital cockpit, a head-up display, and a 13-inch free-standing infotainment display. The DSG gear selector has been relocated to the steering column, creating more space for front passengers, while a spacious center console offers additional storage. The onboard operation has been enhanced with the introduction of Škoda Smart Dials, which provide easy control and access to various vehicle functions through rotary push-buttons and a digital display. The Škoda Superb will move on to its fourth generation this year. The follow-up to its highly successful predecessor will offer a brand-new design. For the moment it’s still hidden under camouflage, but in the video presenter Alex Montyro shows off some of the upcoming new car’s very interesting details. The fourth-generation Škoda Superb has been given a beautiful design with sleek but pronounced and clearly defined lines, as well as new headlights with the traditional crystalline design inspired by Bohemian crystal. Compared to the previous generation, the new model will be longer and taller, offering more space for the occupants. Both the estate and saloon versions will be launched at the get-go. The boot space, which has been one of the Superb’s standout features since its inception, will be 30 litres larger in the estate version and 20 litres in the saloon, making the new Superb once again one of the most spacious and practical cars in its class. The interior gets brand-new controls, including a large touchscreen display that can be up to 12.9 inches diagonal. One new feature is the positioning of the automatic transmission selector on the steering column. The new Superb also uses new materials in the interior that place a strong emphasis on sustainability. The Superb will boast a wealth of equipment that includes the most advanced driver assistance systems, including, for example, predictive cyclist protection. Add to that the 28 Simply Clever solutions that earlier generations of the Superb pioneered. In the video, Alex shows the now-legendary door umbrella compartment that debuted on the first-generation model in 2001. Under the bonnet of the newcomer there will be a choice of six powertrains with outputs ranging from 110 to 195 kW. Three will be TSI units (with a mild hybrid 1.5 eTSI as the basic option), two will be powerful TDI engines and there will also be a plug-in hybrid Superb iV, which promises a purely electric range of over 100 kilometres. Needless to say, all-wheel drive versions will be another option.
Throughout its three prior generations, the Skoda Superb has carved out a reputation for itself not only as a car that genuinely lives up to its name and one offering more than several more premium competitors but almost as something of a cult classic. Loved by families and company car drivers alike, it frequently wins awards despite the current generation being very much in the autumn of its life cycle. We rate it so highly we awarded the Superb our Family Car of the Year title in 2020. To drive, it’s comfortable, quiet and relaxing whether you’re in the front or the back, and can even be hustled along at a fair pace. It’s easy to live with too, with a hatchback that opens onto an enormous boot. The practical interior has an upmarket feel, and there's a range of efficient and refined engines. With generous levels of equipment, acres of space and a pleasant driving experience, the Superb is one of our favourite cars on sale and with very good reason. About the Skoda Superb The Skoda Superb has been a cornerstone of the Czech manufacturer's range for much of its recent history. Underpinned by Volkswagen’s ubiquitous and effective MQB architecture, the latest model was facelifted in 2019 to bring it up-to-date – and to maintain its lead over the large family saloon (and estate) competition. The sales figures show that much of the car buying public are more likely to go for an SUV as family transport, but the Superb still holds strong appeal with its space, refinement and great value for money. Rivals such as the Vauxhall Insignia and the closely related Volkswagen Passat are no longer available, although the Mazda 6 is worthy alternative. The Skoda Superb was the first model from the Czech firm to benefit from the VW Group's MQB front-wheel drive platform. It's one of the largest models to use it, but from behind the wheel the Superb does a great job of hiding its mass. There are no complaints about legroom - the Audi A8 limo is about the only VW Group model to offer more rear seat space. The boot is very generous, too, with 625 litres on offer in five-seat mode, and 1,760 litres with the rear seats folded. And if that isn't enough space for you, then the Superb Estate is even bigger. But there's much more to the Skoda Superb than space. It takes Skoda's 'Simply Clever' slogan to heart, with the ubiquitous umbrellas stored in the doors, ice scraper in the filler flap, one-handed bottle-opening cup holders and plenty of storage. Safety kit is comprehensive, too, with all of the latest VW Group tech on offer. The Superb trim range comprises SE, SE L, SportLine Plus and Laurin & Klement (L&K) trims, and prices range from around £28,000 to £45,000. Entry-level SE models come well-equipped with 17-inch alloys, manual air con, electrically adjustable heated mirrors, cruise control, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with DAB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity) plus a suite of basic safety kit. SE L trim takes another step with 18-inch alloys, privacy glass, full LED Matrix headlights, extra safety kit and sat-nav with wi-fi capability, plus a number of other upgrades. Sportline Plus models focus on improving standard kit while adding a slightly sportier character to the Superb’s styling and interior, while Laurin & Klement models step on the toes of much pricier executive cars thanks to added leather, kit and Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) adaptive suspension. The Superb’s engine range was changed slightly in 2019. Today, there’s a similar mix of petrol and diesel engines, with the 1.4-litre petrol being replaced by the VW Group’s latest 1.5 TSI unit producing 148bhp. It’s available in SE trim and above with a choice of manual or DSG dual-clutch automatics and is joined by the more powerful 2.0 TSI with 187bhp, available on SE L models and up exclusively with a DSG ‘box. The fastest Superb models also use a 2.0-litre petrol, tuned to 276bhp and mated to a DSG gearbox and four-wheel drive for Audi-like all-weather performance. For those with one eye on economy, the 1.4 TSI iV plug-in hybrid might well fit the bill. The 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol unit is paired with a 113bhp electric motor, and combined the two systems offer 215bhp. The 2.0-litre diesel range no longer includes the 120bhp version, leaving the 148bhp and 197bhp variants. The fourth generation of the Škoda Superb is making waves with its introduction of mild-hybrid technology. The center console has been reorganized for a more spacious and tidy look, with the gear lever now located directly on the steering column. Traditional trim levels have been replaced by new options: Essence and Selection, which are further complemented by the Sportline and Laurin & Klement versions. Each of these features a unique interior design, blending contemporary concepts with an emphasis on sustainable materials. The vehicle's width and wheelbase have remained unchanged, but detailed work on the occupant cell and exterior mirrors have contributed to its improved aerodynamics. All engines in the new Superb meet the Euro 6d emissions standard, making it an environmentally friendly option in the sedan market. 2024 Skoda Superb Hatchback Revealed - New Official Information! The next Skoda Superb family car will be offered as a conventional hatchback. The exterior has been updated with a deeper grille and a smaller pair of headlights that make use of cutting-edge LED technology. The bottom grille has been redesigned, and there is only one air inlet on the side. There is no longer a smooth transition from the clamshell bonnet to the grille due to the more complex shape of the headlights, but there is still the iconic indent from the bonnet to the grille where the Skoda emblem traditionally sits. From the side, both the hatchback and the estate have a lengthy overhang past their back wheels. The familiar sharp crease runs along the side, while the rear sports a more subtle bumper. The latest version of Predictive Cruise Control uses images from the camera on the windscreen and data from the navigation system to detect speed restrictions as well as bends, and automatically adjusts the speed in anticipation. The new Emergency Assist for multi-lane roads automatically steers the car to the roadside in emergencies, where it brings the car to a stop. It does so in a controlled manner and taking into account traffic in other lanes. To do this, the system uses Lane Assist and Park Assist as well as the radar sensors belonging to Side Assist. Whilst the familiar Blind Spot Detect has a range of up to 20 m, Side Assist works at a distance of up to 70 m. Furthermore, the ŠKODA SUPERB now also offers Front Assist with Predictive Pedestrian Protection. This warns of a potential collision visually, acoustically and by gently applying the brakes, and automatically slows the car down in emergencies. Also making their ŠKODA debut in all of the SUPERB models are a new electromechanical brake booster and aerodynamic covers on the rear axle suspension, which improve driving stability. Three diesel and three petrol engines In addition to the plug-in hybrid drive available for the new ŠKODA SUPERB iV, there is a choice of six other engines which all fulfil the Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard. There are ten different engine/drive combinations to choose from. The 1.6 TDI producing 88 kW (120 PS) is fitted with a 7-speed DSG as standard. For the 2.0 TDI delivering 110 kW (150 PS) - the first TDI from the latest EVO generation - the power is transmitted by either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG. The top-of-the-range 2.0 TDI diesel offering 140 kW (190 PS) comes with a 7-speed DSG as standard and all-wheel drive is optional. All three diesel engines are equipped with an SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection and a diesel particulate filter. The 1.5 TSI outputting 110 kW (150 PS) is the entry-level petrol engine and is available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG. The new 2.0 TSI outputting 140 kW (190 PS) features a 7-speed DSG as standard; the top-of-the-range 2.0 TSI delivering 200 kW (272 PS) comes with all-wheel drive and a 7-speed DSG as standard. All three TSIs are fitted with a petrol particulate filter. New ŠKODA grille and a chrome trim at the rear ŠKODA has slightly modified the exterior of the SUPERB and has carefully refined the front section. The redesigned front bumper means the car's length has increased by 8 mm to 4,869 mm in the ŠKODA SUPERB, and by 6 mm to 4,862 mm in the ŠKODA SUPERB COMBI. The wheelbase measures 2,841 mm, whilst the car's width is 1,864 mm. Its height is 1,469 mm, or 1,477 mm in the estate. By offering a boot capacity that ranges from 625 to 1,760 l in the ŠKODA SUPERB and 660 to 1,950 l in the ŠKODA SUPERB COMBI, the Czech car manufacturer's top model remains the very best in the segment. The typical ŠKODA grille now bears double slats, is larger and protrudes a little further down into the front bumper. Even in their entry-level version, the narrower headlights come with LED technology as standard for the dipped and high beam, daytime running lights and position light, - and now reach up to the grille. At the rear, a horizontal chrome trim, which connects the full LED tail lights and the new 'ŠKODA' block lettering catch the eye. As part of the optional ambient lighting, LED spotlights project 'ŠKODA' onto the ground when the doors are opened. Completing the model update, new 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels and the colours Crystal Black and Race Blue have been added to the range of customisation options. The top trim level, L&K, offers identical dimensions but the Air Curtains, side sills and rear bumper set themselves apart with new chrome details. It can also be identified by the 'Laurin & Klement' lettering on the front wings. Chrome trim surrounds and connects the fog lights in the front air inlet. The aerodynamically optimised 18-inch Propus Aero alloy wheels - available as standard - are new; and the standard equipment for the L&K variant also includes adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control.

2024 Skoda Superb - Skoda has treated us with plenty of photos of the upcoming Superb and Kodiaq models under light camouflage. A new gallery highlights the Superb sedan (technically a hatchback) that will complete the lineup next to the more practical Combi estate. Due to its low-slung three-box silhouette, the Superb looks more like a traditional sedan, but the fact that the boot opens with the rear glass makes it a hatchback. The first-generation of the modern-era Superb was a four-door sedan, the second-gen combined both worlds with a clever twin tailgate mechanism, while the third-gen and upcoming fourth-gen are classic five-door hatchbacks. The 2024 Skoda Superb Hatchback measures 4,912 mm (193.4 inches) long, 1,834 mm (72.2 inches) wide, and 1,481 mm (58.3 inches) tall with a wheelbase of 2,841 mm (111.9 inches). This makes it 43 mm (1.7 inches) longer and 12 mm (0.5 inches) taller compared to its predecessor, with the sleeker body resulting in an improved drag coefficient of 0.24 cd. The new generations of Škoda’s Superb and Kodiaq models have successfully passed intensive cold testing in the Arctic Circle. The vehicles’ functions, quality and durability were assessed in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius. The main focus of these tests was on driving stability, passenger comfort in icy conditions and overall reliability during long winter journeys. In addition, the vehicles had to withstand the extra weight of ice and snow. With the extreme-cold trials completed, testing of the new models now enters the final phase.
